Mark Hughes sacked

Mark Hughes has been sacked as Manchester City manager after beating Sunderland in a 7 goal thriller. Roberto Mancini has taken the helm, an italian that has no premier league experience and cannot speak the english language.

Hughes took a brave move by benching both Robinho and Adebayor who together cost over £50 Million; A move which was rumoured to be unpopular with the Arab owners.

We've received many emails from fans all with the same collective view.  The owners are losing the fans respect regarding footballing issues.  It doesn't matter how many marketing campaigns they pay for, if they can't let the manager do his job, then they clearly do not know what they are doing.

Greatest Player

There’s a very popular football game online called Greatest Player ever, where self proclaimed pundits like me and you vote on a series of players head to head.  You’re presented with a choice of 2 players, a few interesting stats from each one and then you choose your winner, or call a draw.  The clever thing is that every time you vote, their database becomes stronger and you can view “The Top XI”.
Now the exciting part, the guys at Greatest Player ever have now launched a brand new website called Greatest Man City Player.  Players past and present are going head to head to discover the best City team of all time!  The interesting factor is that players of different positions and era’s can go head to head.  The City Media team are absolutely hooked. This is quite possibly the most addicting city game on the web.
The current City XI is: Peter Schmeichel, Richard Edghill, Kit Symons, Vincent Kompany, Wayne Bridge, Trevor Sinclair, Stephen Ireland, Peter Reid, Georgiou Kinkladze, Niall Quinn & Andy Cole.

The more times you vote, the more accurate the team will become, so what are you waiting for?  Especially when there’s talk of prizes . . .

Busk for City

We are on the lookout for buskers and acoustic acts to perform outside the City of Manchester Stadium before City home games this season. In conjunction with the Umbro Playlist we need four acts each matchday to entertain the crowds as they arrive at the ground. Chosen artists will be asked to perform for approximately an hour before kick-off and will also receive a pair of tickets to the match. Any money collected through busking will be given to one of the clubs’ associated charities.

The first game we need buskers for is Arsenal on September 12th.

So, if you’re an acoustic act, guitarist, singer, violinist... anything musical, please get in touch by emailing us an mp3 of you playing or a link to a MySpace page etc to mcfc@mcfc.co.uk with ‘MCFC Buskers’ as the subject.

Blackburn Away? Easy!

The boys in blue kicked off their season in style by beating Blackburn Rovers away with 2 cracking goals from Adebayor in the 2nd minute and Stevie Ireland in the 90th! Robinho also had some brilliant shots denied as did Carlos Tevez in the 2nd half. However the somewhat star of the show for us at City Media, was that of Craig Bellamy! The welshman put in a superb performance which will really keep the new striking superstars on their toes! a lot of fans forgot how fast and skillful bellamy really is. He first caught our eye last season when he scored at home against relegated side Middlesbrough. He has the speed of Theo Wallcott, the step-overs of Cristiano Ronaldo (who we can now like as he left united - he may be a cheat, but he's a bloody good one) and the strength of Nigel De-Jong (well nearly). Craig Bellamy is definetly one to look out for this season.

Shay Given also pulled off some fantastic saves, and Kolo Toure looked more than comfortable at the back. We wish we could say the same for skipper Richard Dunne. Very dissapointed, he was often caught out on the wrong side of attackers, silly tackles and poor passing. Micah Richards looked better than last season, but still not where he should be, Micah's problem is that he has started believing his own hype. With the World Cup just around the corner, you'de expect him to put more effort in than ever in an attempt to revive his England career.

Adebayor commented on the away support after the game, telling the clubs official website "The noise was unbelievable" and "I'm here to show the fans that i'm here to fight, i'm here to play, the most important thing is to keep fighting for this club".

Top 4 Finish

Arsenal have lost arguably 2 of their best players to Manchester City, Gareth Barry was stolen from under Liverpool's noses' and we also beat our red rivals to the signature of Carlos Tevez. With the so called 'Top 4' losing their superstars to City, many of the bookies are calling evens on city to finish top 4, with Arsenal favourites to make the room.

City Media wants to know where you honestly think City will finish this season. Send us an email and you could end up debating your point on Sky Blue News.
